Expo ‘Met welk schip kwam jij?’

-Iedereen is anders
Maar mijn huid, haren en kleur van mijn ogen zijn anders
-Zo menselijk mooi
Geloof jij mij niet, dat dit mij zo in de weg staat om zo menselijke behoefte aan verbondenheid te ervaren
-Ik geloof het. Maar geloof jij mij, het zal voorbij gaan. We zijn er bijna.”

Expositie ‘Met welk schip kwam jij’ is mijn manier om er over te praten: over gouden en andere eeuwen van onrecht, zich gebruikt voelen, overdracht van Nederland-Indië aan Indonesië, zich in de steek gelaten voelen, koude ontvangst van de eerste generatie in Nederland.
Zoektocht naar identiteit, dwalen door lege plekken in de stambomen van de tweede en derde generatie. Zoektocht naar oorsprong, zo verschillend voor iedereen, ondanks dat we allemaal vanuit hetzelfde punt vertrokken zijn.
Indo’s waren niet welkom. In een omgeving waar geen ruimte voor verhaal is, overleef je door te zwijgen. Ik wil meer, ik wil leven.

“Goed, ik vaar met deze expo mee onder de titel ‘Met welk schip kwam jij?’ gekozen door mijn medekunstenaars en exposanten José en Bud.
Zelf heb ik de aarde twee keer rond gevaren met tiental verschillende schepen. Dus, die titel doet me wat, neemt me mee naar het verleden en naar de plek waar ik nu ben. Ik vaar nog steeds. Wij zijn allemaal reizigers”.
Bugi, Mohamed Ansari, in Pakistan geboren, zoals al gezegd wereld-en tijdreiziger kwam op zijn jongere leeftijd in aanraking met Kalash people, een unieke stam, gesetteld millennia geleden in noord Pakistan. Zijn bewondering voor hen heeft hem sindsdien nooit meer losgelaten.
Deze inheemse bevolking is zo bijzonder en verschilt zeer sterk van de alle etnische groepen die hem omringen, vertelde Bugi. Vreedzaam en in eigen spirituele wereld, geloven zij in meerdere goden. Natuur en spirituele wereld speelt belangrijke rol in hun dagelijkse leven. Kalash mytologie en folkore komt sterk overeen met die van de oude Grieken. Volgens Kalashtraditie en geloof stammen zij af van de troepen van Alexander de Grote.
Met zijn kunst en ook originele artefacten uit deze streek van Pakistan neemt Bugi ons mee naar Kalash people en een reis door de wereld.
Met zijn kunstenaarschap stelt Bugi zich actief in werken met UN child protections en UN Wereld Heritage, inheemse volken in het bijzonder!

Don’t you believe me this is so blocking me from experiencing human need for connection
I believe so. But do you believe me, it will pass. We’re almost there.”

Exhibition ‘Which ship did you come with’ is my way to talk about it: about gold and other centuries of injustice, feeling used, transfer from the Netherlands Indies to Indonesia, feeling abandoned, cold reception of the first generation in the Netherlands.
Search for identity, wandering through empty spaces in the second and third generation family trees. Search for origin, so different for everyone, even though we all left from the same point.
Indos were not welcome. In an environment where there is no space for story, you survive by silent. I want more, I want to live.”

′′ Good, I’ll sail along with this expo under the title ′′ Which ship did you come with? ‘ chosen by my fellow artists and exhibitors José and Bud. I myself have sailed around the earth twice with dozen different ships. So that title hurts me, takes me to the past and to where I am now. I still sail. We are all travelers “.
M.Bugi,born in Pakistan, as already said world and time traveler came into contact with Kalash people at his younger age, a unique tribe, settled millennia ago in northern Pakistan. His admiration for them has never let him go since. This indigenous population is so special and differs greatly from all ethnic groups surrounding them, Bugi told me. Peaceful and in their own spiritual world, they believe in multiple deities,. Nature and spiritual world plays an important role in their daily lives. Kalash mythology and folk lore is very similar to those of the ancient Greeks. According to Kalash tradition and faith they descended from Alexander the Great’s troops. With his art and original artifacts from this area of Pakistan Bugi takes us to Kalash people and a journey through the world. With his art M. Bugi actively engages in works with UN child protections and UN World Heritage, indigenous peoples in particular!
