This world has always been a crazy place to live in. With rare exceptions, any human life is a struggle – with injustice, loss, loneliness, grief, despair, uncertainty. Sometimes less intense, sometimes – more, as happens in times of big disasters that put the world into an even bigger chaos.

What can help us, blind wanderers, to keep moving through the labyrinths of life’s challenges, keep believing that this world is still worth being in? There should be something, that helps our fragile human mind and body not to be lost in uncertainty, but instead to see and feel the overpowering beauty of this world, one magic touch of which is worth years of struggle.

One answer to this is that magic is always around us. It’s in hundreds of tiny things that surround us every day, wherever we live. It’s also in things so giant that can they are easily unnoticed and taken for granted. The key to this magic world is inside us, and all it requires are simple things: relax, look, pay attention and be open – towards whatever or whoever can cross your way. Don’t be afraid to share and accept.

Everything in this universe is interconnected, and the greatest magic happens when we let our world cross with others, let unseen connections flow through us and let new things grow on the crossroads.

Embrace uncertainty, let things happen, open your eyes as well as your heart – and you will see the magic and beauty that can defeat any disaster and save the world, one more time.

In this spirit we introduce our collaborative solarography project “CrossWorlds,” where different worlds merge into… something new! How much healing magic to see there – is up to you. Just look!

Britte Koolen

Britte is gedreven door minimalisme zoals hergebruik, ordening en reductie waarbij ze probeert orde te scheppen in chaos. Nauwkeurigheid is hierbij erg belangrijk. Een millimeter naar links, of een millimeter naar rechts kan een groot verschil maken. De posities van deze sculpturen houden de toeschouwer gevangen in het moment van een beslissing nemen of besluiteloosheid.
